기존의 가요 중심 시상식과 달리, 음악적 완성도와 작품성을 중심으로 수상자를 선정하는 방식으로 운영되며,
대한민국 대중음악계에서 음악적 가치 중심의 시상식 문화를 정립했다.
이후 지속적인 개최를 통해 한국 음악 산업의 다양성 확대에 기여하며
인디 및 비주류 음악의 대중적 확산에 중요한 역할을 했다.
The Korean Music Awards KMA was established to highlight the diversity and artistic value of Korean popular music.
Unlike traditional mainstream award shows, KMA selects winners based on musical excellence and artistic merit,
setting a new standard for music awards culture in Korea.
By continuing its annual ceremonies, KMA has contributed to the expansion of diversity in the Korean music industryand
played a crucial role in bringing indie and nonmainstream music into the public spotlight.
